Reporting to the Dean of the Yale School of Public Health and the Associate Vice President for Development at the Yale School of Medicine, the Senior Director will be a key member of the School's leadership team and work in close partnership with the Dean, faculty, alumni and friends to develop and implement the School's strategy for advancement and alumni relations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion and commitment to Public Health and demonstrate the drive, ingenuity, enthusiasm and ability to substantially invigorate major gift prospecting. Essential Duties:
1. Direct the Office of Advancement: Direct the activities of the YSPH Office of Advancement, including all solicitations, campaigns, and strategies, development and alumni affairs, priorities and opportunities, prospect, donor and alumni relationships, tracking of donors/prospects, communication strategies, and manage reports. Collaborate with the YSPH Office of Public Affairs staff on the design and implementation of communication strategies in support of the School's advancement. Supervise the YSPH Office of Public Affairs. Participate in development of the office's non-salary budget and oversee expenses.
a. Fundraising: Manage major gifts activity and revenue goals. Devise, recommend, and implement cultivation/solicitation strategies. Coordinate/conduct prospect solicitations, including written and verbal communications, events and programs that support advancement activities. Plan/conduct events and programs in support of advancement activities. Work with central Yale Alumni Annual Fund staff to establish annual goals and oversee the annual appeal solicitation. Actively and successfully manage a robust portfolio of donors and prospects capable of making significant gifts to YSPH.
b. Prospect Management and Development: Oversee and participate in, as appropriate, prospect research, rating and screening. Develop and write comprehensive proposals appropriate to donors' interests promoting gift opportunities for YSPH. The candidate will meet with key faculty and leadership and be instrumental in developing new and unique strategies to identify potential donors that may not have a direct affiliation with Yale University.
c. Stewardship: Organize and provide stewardship with appropriate donors and prospects as determined in consultation with the Dean and the Associate Vice president for Advancement YSM.
d. Alumni Affairs: Serve as director of the Alumni Affairs Office and lead all programs and develop new ways to serve alumni.
2. Coordinate relationships with University Offices: Coordinate with the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations and the Yale Central Development staff to ensure that prospects are identified/solicited in collaborative manner. Work closely with Offices at YSPH.
