The Allen-Stevenson School is seeking an experienced professional to serve as its Human Resource (HR) Generalist. The HR Generalist reports directly to the Controller and provides support on all matters pertaining to Human Resources for the Controller and Director of Finance and Operations.
The HR Generalist is responsible for planning, prioritizing, organizing and managing all aspects of the HR administrative workflow and related projects for the School. This individual will provide support for and strategic analysis of benefits administration including the School’s various health plans, retirement plans, personnel policies, compensation, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to contribute to the development of new HR systems, processes, and operations to ensure greater efficiencies.
Prepare and process bi-monthly payroll for approximately 150 employees
Prepare journal entry to classify payroll and prepare monthly reconciliation for all benefits vendor invoices
Responsible for quarterly payroll reconciliation to the Form 941
Effectively coordinate with business office staff on payroll-related matters
Successfully manage and coordinate benefit programs for employees in conjunction with the School’s benefits brokers and providers, including all employee communication, problem solving and claims resolution
Ensure all plans comply with applicable laws and statutes (HIPPA, ERISA and IRS guidelines)
Manage annual open enrollment and renewal process for all employees
Human Resource Management
Track and maintain records for paid time off and ACA compliance
Coordinate dissemination of benefits information, and human resource policies to new hires
Develop and maintain employee files and other pertinent employee information
Remain knowledgeable about HR trends and industry best practices, and advise on implementation of new policies to remain in compliance
Work with DFO to review and update Employee Handbook annually
Periodically audit job descriptions and classification of employees as appropriate under the Fair Labor Standards Act
Ensure compliance with federal and state employment statutes and laws
Manage employee separation process for both voluntary/involuntary terminations
Complete annual compensation and benefit surveys and census requests
Assist in the production of faculty contracts and staff salary notification letters
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the ability to accurately interpret procedures and regulations along with the ability to ensure appropriate implementation. This individual should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and a service oriented demeanor with the ability to identify appropriate channels for handling employee concerns. Strong working knowledge of Excel and HRIS software, and experience processing payroll is required. Basic accounting knowledge is preferred.
