~ Genesis’s Public Relations and Corporate Responsibility lead is responsible for improving brand awareness, positive image and purchase intent of Genesis in the U.S using all aspects of public relations; strengthen and build acceptance for Genesis through earned and social media. Provide council to senior management on corporate communications issues, including legal and safety issues. Collaborate with Genesis’s integrated marketing teams to ensure PR support for all marketing programs.
~ Oversee the PR and CSR Budget and respective cost centers.
~ Lead all external communication related to Genesis’s parent company’s image and reputation in the U.S; Maintaining relationships with both traditional and new media across the U.S; Major auto show media events, major media launches of all Genesis products; Corporate, product, crisis and media relations, along with limited government relations, and dealer communications
~ Lead the social media efforts relevant to Public Relations and lead the company efforts in key social media outlets, primarily Facebook and Twitter, acting as the ‘voice of Genesis’ in the Social Media world.
~ Lead the company’s corporate responsibility platform, its strategic development, implementation, issuing of grants and related programs.
~ Prepare the yearly public relations plan for Genesis.
~ Plan and implement new product introductions for national, regional and local media in order to obtain the maximum amount of positive coverage.
~ Oversee the strategic development and implementation of publicity for connected car technologies, quality, safety and service.
~ Coordinate dealer communications with the Sales Division.
~ Oversee the preparation of press releases and all other written press communications throughout the year.
~ Oversee the GenesisNews.com website, ensuring its accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness.
~ Strengthen and build relationships with the media in order to improve the media’s coverage of the Company.
~ Lead the strategic direction, management, & coordination with key partners including public relations agencies, clearly defining roles and responsibilities and ensuring that all programs are on strategy and deliver maximum ROI.
~ Obtain the best possible media coverage for the companies and their products.
~ Prepare speeches for senior Genesis and HMC executives.
~ Oversee the Genesis media press fleet
~ Responsible for the planning, allocation and tracking of the overall department budget cost centers, ensuring maximum ROI and overall expenditure remains in line with agreed budgets.
~ Collaborate and effectively communicate all activities across all Genesis and HMA departments, executives, the wider HMA Marketing department, Regions, Field staff and Vendors.
~ Maintain awareness of current and changing market trends, consumer attitudes and opinions with Genesis vehicles.
~ Independent judgement required on critical-issue decision making, problem identification, problem solving and dealing with media on a deadline basis.
~ Manage work flow and the ability to work across departments, along with the wider HMA marketing teams.
~ Resolve issues and communicate to management and business partners.
~ Manage activities and performance of agency and other service providers.
~ Must have a high school diploma
~ Bachelor’s degree preferred
~ Master’s degree a plus
~ Six to seven plus years of experience in either journalism or public relations, of which at least five years should be directly related experience in public relations working for a major corporation or automotive company.
~ Automotive media experience required.
~ Luxury media experience preferred.
Skill / Knowledge:
~ Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
~ Ability to act as spokesperson for the company.
~ Understanding of and ability to work across a number of different social media platforms.
~ Ability to quickly and accurately prepare press releases concerning corporate issues.
~ Established relationships with consumer and business media.
~ Strong media relations skills.
~ Strong analytical skills and ability to dissect complex issues.
~ Ability to manage multiple, highly-detailed, deadline-sensitive projects with a superior level of quality.
~ Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships at a variety of levels; Executive, Managerial, Field Staff, subordinate and agency hierarchy of personnel.
~ Diplomatic and collaborative attitude, able to motivate partners to meet and exceed business expectations.
~ Ability to create and present executive facing presentations and other materials.
~ Strong Project Management Skills with attention to detail; master at multi-tasking.
~ Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
~ Normal Office Duties.
~ Travel to off-site programs and events required.
~ Occasional night and weekend work.
