The Dean will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of a new School of Public and Global Affairs. The Dean will be responsible for ensuring that the School meets its mission of expanding the boundaries of knowledge in public and global affairs, and elevating those who wish to advance or launch careers in public service, by providing a first-class education which connects global concerns to local ones and vice versa. The Dean will promote and expand existing programs including the Master of Public Administration and Master of Arts in Global Affairs, and will launch new graduate programs in line with the mission of the School, including programs on our campuses in Vancouver, BC and Oxfordshire, UK. The incumbent will also be responsible for the programmatic leadership and financial management of the School, including raising funds from public and private sources to support the School. In keeping with the University's mission, the Dean will work through various constituencies to foster global relations for the School. This position reports to the University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The incumbent will receive academic rank as appropriate.
1.An earned doctorate in a related field from an accredited university.
2.Proven leadership ability in a related field to public affairs and/or international relations.
3.Substantial experience within higher education, and attainment of senior academic rank (Full Professor or above).
4.Ability to locate and secure external funding for a school and programs of the nature noted.
5.Significant organizational experience in an area of higher education, especially in building or transforming a department or division.
6.Proven ability in building relationships with public officials and their staff.
7.Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
8.A vision and interpersonal skills to build partnerships inside and outside the School and University-at-large.
9.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
