Position Summary: Oversee all aspects of a successful intercollegiate athletic Esports program for both the NAIA and NACE (National Association of Collegiate Esports). This position will be responsible for but not limited to—The Eligibility Process – PlayNAIA – Slte—NAIA Help – Recruiting – High School and Transfers Student-Athletes as it relates to Esports. This position will interact with recruits – parents – Head and Assistants coaches—other universities – High Schools—FAR—Registrar’s Office-Advancement Office.
Duties and Responsibilities: (Any one position may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions within this classification)
The Head Esports Coach will report to the Athletic Director and will oversee all aspects of operating a successful intercollegiate Esports program.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
*Scouting and Recruiting of Prospective Student-Athletes: -Identify prospective student-athletes capable of succeeding academically, spiritually, and athletically, as well as successful retention at Ohio Christian University. -Update the OCU Athletics Recruiting and Compliance Report on a bi-weekly basis. -Maintain a database of prospects including updated records of contacts. -Successfully recruit those identified student-athletes.
*Student-Athlete Skill Instruction; Team and Game Preparation: -Teach all basic and advanced skills required in the sport of Esports during individual skill sessions and team practices. -Develop and implement of sound and safe practice plans that successfully prepare the student-athletes with the fundamentals of the sport of Esports. -Develop a comprehensive and strategic game plan for each scheduled contest throughout the season. This includes, but is not limited to, the evaluation of upcoming opponents by breaking down game tapes, preparing a scouting report for the student-athletes and making adjustments to the game plan during contests.
*Administrative Responsibilities: -Organize and coordinate of a wide variety of administrative tasks which include, but not limited to, team travel, contest scheduling, budget preparation, office administration, academics (retention, graduation, GPA’s, academic coaching, study tables), compliance, facility usage, public relations, marketing, style guide, fundraising, community engagement, fall-winter-spring-summer camps and other daily operations for operating a successful intercollegiate Esports program.
*NAIA/NACE Rules Compliance: -Be responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to all NAIA/NACE rules and regulations pertaining to but not limited to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the Esports program.
*Position Requirements: -A solid working knowledge of Esports. Two to four years of playing and/or coaching experience. The selected candidate must successfully pass all University requirements for employment.
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Excellent computer proficiency is required particularly with word processing. Web site experience is preferred. Applicant must possess strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and under pressure of deadlines, and the willingness to work nights and weekends.
*Education, Training and Experience: -Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) -2 to 4 years of playing/coaching experience
*Skill and Ability to: -Strong public speaking skills that connect with 18-22 year olds -Strong administrative and organizational skills -Strong communication skills both verbal and written -Ability to network with other coaches to continue growth professionally -Ability to successfully recruit a full roster each season (mission fit student athletes)
