The Director of Visual Media serves as the key producer and manager of video and photo assets within the Division of Marketing & Communications. Content produced by the visual media team is featured across a variety of platforms to increase brand awareness and elevate the reputation of Texas A&M University. The director has a strategic vision and knack for recognizing opportunities for telling the Texas A&M story throughinnovative and creative means, with an acute awareness of audience and response. The director oversees project assignments, monitors progress, and identifies and implements operational procedures to maximizeefficiency. As a brand champion, the director promotes consistent use of visual identity for a unified brandpresence across the university. The visual media group works hand-in-hand with internal MarCom teams,including graphic design, events, web, social media, public relations, and corporate partnerships. The director of visual media works under minimum supervision, exercises initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors' degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ten years relevant experience including a minimum three years full-time experience in commercial visual media production, managing creative teams, with demonstrably strong skills in creative direction and editing.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Current U.S. Passport.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in video editing, visual effects, compositing, and motion graphics.
Advanced knowledge of Adobe CC Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects).
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong management and reporting skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
Solid critical-thinking and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masterâ™s degree a plus in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field.
Experience at an institution of higher education. Experience in digital marketing campaigns.
Demonstrated experience with professional camera systems, studio and set lighting, stabilizers, wired and wireless mics, audio recording.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
FAA Part 107 Certification.
Initiates planning and execution of visual media content throughout all stages of development, from conception and script writing to visual capture and production, for use in advertising, marketing, public relations, online activities and executive presentations. Re-purposes branded content for use across an array of digital and print platforms.
Works collaboratively with internal MarCom Directors on creative development, implementation, and strategy, with emphasis on social media. Travel may be associated with production.
Leads, directs, and mentors a visual media team and student workers. Oversees growth and development of the visual media team.
Vets and manages outside service providers (photographers, voice over talent, videographers, freelance producers, writers, musicians). Monitors current processes and keeps pace with changing technologies.
Proactively outreaches with University and System groups on brand compliance, vendor selection, and management. Offers technical leadership, guidance, and troubleshooting to campus constituents.
Maintains and builds upon universityâ™s recently formed Digital Asset Management system. Refines and improves departmental procedures for developing and distributing university content. Works with internal brand development and designs teams to protect university trademarked and licensed assets. Performs other duties as assigned.
