Planning, developing, editing and posting digital content for MSU Extension website in consultation with subject matter experts
Coordinating and scheduling digital outreach efforts, including social media (“MI Health Matters – MSU Extension” Facebook page) email marketing and education
Writing and developing impact-focused stories, marketing materials and legislative reports for MSU Extension, AgBioResearch and CANR
Working with internal and external editors and designers to manage the development and branding of communications and marketing content (print and digital) for HNI programs and initiatives
Participates and attends regular meetings with department communicators, HNI staff and leadership.
Guide creative work involved with HNI, including:
Social media campaigns
Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in communications, public relations, journalism, professional writing, business, marketing, English or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in communications; event coordination; public and media relations; composing news articles and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; experience managing content and executing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A self-starter with an outgoing personality who will represent the team in a positive manner; a team player who can work both independently and in a team environment, make sound decisions and prioritize tasks effectively. A minimum of five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in communications, event coordination, marketing, public relations, or a closely-related area; experience or interest in health, nutrition and/or physical fitness; experience in the use of AP Style writing and editing techniques, digital communications, social media and general communications support; demonstrated mastery and understanding of web-based content management systems; strong writing, proofreading and editing skills; attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge of Constant Contact, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and InDesign; basic photography and graphic design skills; and knowledge of MSU branding. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while adhering to aggressive deadlines.
