The Patient Relations Representative position will be responsible for communicating with a diverse group of personalities in a courteous and professional manner by phone and direct interactions. She/He must possess the skill to multi-task assignments and prioritize many tasks including:
Answer phone lines and demonstrate appropriate phone etiquette
Schedule new and return appointments
Complete check-in process including verification of demographic information, student eligibility and scan insurance cards
Follow up on all inquires
Provide excellent customer service to all patients, staff and parents This position will also occasionally provide cross coverage to other Campus Health Service clinics as needed.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
The competencies demonstrated in assessing problems and identifying an appropriate solution are required for this position. The selected candidate must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills, interpersonal, public relations, and computer skills. Prior experience working at the front desk in a medical office or hospital setting is essential. Attention to detail is required, as is experience verifying active insurance coverage with payers and entering plan numbers and claim submission address information from an insurance card into a practice management system. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to the position.
Prefer one year of administrative, multiple phone line experience, and prior college health/healthcare setting experience.
