Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Iowa State University Human Resources is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for leading, collaborating, and coordinating communications projects with the University Human Resources (UHR) leadership team and stakeholders. The individual in this position will write and manage university-wide communications, marketing materials, website content, social media content, and other items as necessary to communicate UHR's value proposition. The Communications Specialist will provide a proactive approach to improve communications and branding of UHR across all communication channels.
The successful candidate will possess a flexible writing style to address multiple audiences while maintaining the brand voice. This individual will have a strong ability to develop new topics, research, and establish a unique angle on existing topics. Lastly, being a self-starter with strong initiative and drive are essential to success in the position.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a similar major.
Communications experience with employee populations.
Experience which demonstrates knowledge of HR functions.
Experience writing and editing marketing content (in print and for the web).
Experience analyzing communication campaigns, particularly using site analytics.
