The Anthropology Department in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University invites applications for the Maxwell Ford South Asia Professorship in Cultural Anthropology at the Associate or Full Professor level. We are looking for an outstanding established Cultural Anthropologist to continue our long tradition of leadership in South Asian studies. The candidate should have expertise within areas of Medical Anthropology, Policy and Applied Anthropology, Urban Anthropology, Diasporas, and/or Linguistics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research as well as to undergraduate and graduate education. The Maxwell School especially seeks candidates open to collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with our South Asia Center and Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs. The scholar will be expected to teach two courses per semester, maintain an active research program, and serve on departmental and other university committees. In addition to a Ph.D in Anthropology, the candidate shall have a strong record of research and teaching experience.
