As part of the Enrollment and Student Services (ESS) Division, the marketing/communications writer will create, write and edit copy for a variety of audiences across print and digital mediums in support of the Division's recruitment strategies. Channels include email, web, social media, print, and text communications. Audiences include traditional and non-traditional prospective students, their parents, and guidance counselors. The writer will determine the needs and tendencies of each audience and create branded copy that engages readers and compels them to move through the admissions funnel by taking a series of actions such as visiting campus, submitting an application for admission, or paying a deposit. The writer will also contribute to professional business communications on behalf of the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services including board reports and executive summaries. This position reports to the Admissions Communications Coordinator and collaborates with graphic designers, social media coordinators, college marketing coordinators, and other University offices as needed.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, English or a related field. Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail. Diverse writing and editing experience with demonstrated success in marketing writing. Exceptional grammar, spelling and proofreading skills. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to email, social media and text marketing. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate a complex process to new audiences. Ability to complete multiple simultaneous projects within a deadline.
