Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Public Relations Specialist II for the University Finance and Administration (UFA) Project Management Office (PMO). This position reports to the Director of Communications. The Public Relations Specialist II supports the UFAPMO in the planning and execution of sophisticated university communications projects. This position uses established procedures to assist with the development, coordination, and execution of strategic internal communications in partnership with key stakeholders. The Public Relations Specialist II effectively manages all aspects of internal communication platforms, especially website, e-mail, and e-publications in support of initiatives/projects.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works on creative and sophisticated university communications projects, incorporating key university and initiative/project messages to understanding, awareness and marketing of priorities and changes, initiatives.
Plans, prepares and disseminates information designed to keep staff, faculty and senior executives informed of pertinent aspects of initiatives/projects.
Works collaboratively across the Division and with key stakeholders to assess needs and effectiveness, and coordinate marketing plans for initiatives/projects.
Assesses, develops and applies appropriate metrics to measure impact of communications.
Assesses new and emerging communication channels and opportunities for compatibility with needs for initiatives/projects.
Conducts research on website analytics and other universities and organizations; stays up-to-date on recent trends and best practices, and provides recommendations to inform communications planning.
Oversees communications aspects of initiatives/projects effectively, from concept through launch/delivery, including establishing timelines and prioritizing competing initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, formatting, editing, proofreading, publishing, promotional advertising, organization coordination, and/or facilitation.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a communications planning, management and/or editorial function.
