Under the direction of the Director of Creative Media, the Senior Producer / Video Manager will be responsible for the production and post-production of audio and video content for HMX's developing and evolving online educational programs and initiatives. S/he will bring expertise in all aspects of video production and technology, from on-location filming and studio capture to optimization for online deployment, while managing an internal team of video editors and video production vendors.

HMX description HMX is an educational initiative at Harvard Medical School dedicated to creating fully online courses on foundational topics in medicine. These courses are led by Harvard Medical School faculty, working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of experts in biomedical visualization, assessment, and the science of learning. The instruction is based on principles derived from educational research to improve learning and retention and relies on best practices in scientific visualization.
Manage the video production pipeline and, through oversight as well as active participation, ensure on-time delivery of video projects for inclusion in innovative online learning experiences
Oversee a video team including managing staff, setting video project timelines in accordance with broader production goals and course delivery timelines, reviewing video team materials to ensure that they meet HMX standards, and establishing and documenting team procedures
Apply expert-level knowledge in audio and video technology (hardware and software) to the creation, optimization, and deployment of synchronous and asynchronous online educational materials
Coordinate crews and logistics for clinically-based video productions, in coordination with HMX faculty, the Faculty Director, and the Director of Creative Media, including production both in studios and on location throughout Harvard Medical School and its affiliated hospitals and research institutes.
Record, edit, mix, and master screen capture, live-action, and other audio and video materials as required
Manage the HMX Studio for voiceover and screen-capture recordings including scheduling, equipment upkeep, and technical troubleshooting of equipment.

Job Duties Continued:
Administer the quality assurance process for captioning and video assets, and the deployment of video assets
Catalog video assets from capture to archive, including meta-tagging and documentation. Collaborate with other Creative Media leads to organize, tag, and maintain HMX's creative intellectual property in a secure and searchable manner
In coordination with the Director of Creative Media and the marketing team, oversee the production of video-based marketing materials, optimized for a variety of devices, platforms, and channels.
Manage third-party video publishing technologies and associated vendor relationships including video hosting/streaming, transcription services, and closed captioning services
In conjunction with the Director of Creative Media and the Faculty Director, research and plan future video technologies including hosting, player features, transcript and closed caption services, synchronous learning experiences, and other potential new media solutions to enhance HMX production and learning experiences.
Candidate must provide demo clips and/or online portfolios that showcase a full range of pre-production, production, and post-production skills and must describe the candidate's exact role in producing each video.

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in media production environments. Demonstrated ability to produce and direct videos shoots. Proven experience with audio and video post-production.
A passion for creating educational materials. A keen eye for video and an ability to make aesthetic and narrative judgments in addition to the skills to assemble and edit audio and visual material to create engaging, pedagogically sound video media.
Expert post-production skills with current tools including Adobe Premiere CC.
Detailed understanding of modern camera, audio, and lighting equipment and production techniques.
Experience managing a creative team.
Strong creative storytelling skills and the ability to communicate those ideas via storyboards, scripts, and pitches
Exceptional attention to detail in production and post-production work.
Outstanding professional judgment and excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
An organized and proactive nature.
