METROPOLITAN STATE UNIVERSITY, a vibrant and growing public, urban university, is seeking to fill a part-time faculty position within the Department of Psychology to teach classes in experimental, cognitive, and/or biopsychology and related specialties in the College of Community Studies and Public Affairs beginning fall 2018.
This part-time faculty member would be expected to teach experimental, cognitive, and/or biopsychology courses effectively at the undergraduate level.
Outstanding candidates will demonstrate a commitment to serving a culturally diverse student body through delivering a student-centered education in a liberal arts and sciences context and will possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
Doctorate in experimental, cognitive, or biopsychology or related field, or
A bachelor's degree with or plus a minimum of 18 graduate credits in these areas.
Demonstrated ability to teach at the post-secondary level.
Laboratory skills and teaching experience.
Communication skills (written & oral) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.
Demonstrated ability to work in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse workforce.
Basic computer and/or software skills as needed for teaching and online navigation.
Three or more years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
Knowledge or expertise in related areas of psychology.
Effective presentation skills.
Outstanding/Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.
Understanding of and willingness to learn policy, process and procedures for individual study abroad and academic internship opportunities.

The School/Academic Department: The Psychology Department offers students an understanding of the science of behavior and skills in applying this knowledge to a variety of contexts. Most courses fulfill General Education and Liberal Studies (GELS) requirements. We offer a Psychology BA and an Early Childhood Studies BAS, as well as minors child psychology, community and applied social psychology, educational psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, mental health psychology and psychology for law enforcement.
Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) Master Agreement.
