Under the general supervision of the Dean for Enrollment Management, responsible for designing and implementing the recruitment activities and admissions processes required to achieve defined enrollment goals. The Assistant Dean of Admissions manages the staff and operations of the Admissions department supporting a welcoming, student-focused environment.
This position will be based primarily on the Lowell campus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, communication and assessment of a recruitment plan: identify recruitment populations, strategies, and activities in partnership with college leadership. The Assistant Dean of Admissions will be expected to work collaboratively with Marketing, college Deans, program coordinators, faculty and staff in the development, execution and development of all aspects of the recruitment plan.
Create and maintain an inclusive, student-focused environment in the Admissions department for MCC's diverse students, faculty, staff and community members.
In collaboration with Enrollment Management and Institutional Research leadership, responsible for the planning, implementation and assessment of a college-wide enrollment plan designed to achieve identified institutional enrollment goals.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the admissions and recruitment programs and makes recommendations for recruitment strategies to enhance yield, while considering general admissions/enrollment goals and related factors.
Utilize technology systems as necessary to effectively track and manage the prospective student inquiry pool and student application flow, and to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, and events.
Extract reliable data from the college computing systems as necessary to support the design, implementation and assessment of all admissions and recruitment activities.
Lead and/or participate in the evaluation and implementation of new processes and technologies to enhance efficiencies within Admissions and Enrollment Management.
Provide admission expertise and technical support to members in the college community engaging in department based recruitment strategies in a timely manner.
Manage departmental budget and resources.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate admission department staff. Provide professional development and staff training as necessary to achieve organizational, divisional and departmental goals.
Design, implement, and assess target recruitment activities for academic divisions, programs, and special student populations.
Coordinate all student recruitment activities. Effectively incorporate and support faculty, professional staff from across the college community, students and alumni in recruitment/admission activities.
Assist in the planning and development of recruitment marketing materials in collaboration with the Dean of Marketing Communication.
In collaboration with the Dean of K-12 partnerships, manage the acceptance, admissions and registrations of dual enrollment students at local high schools and on-campus.
Design, implement and assess efficient, student-oriented admissions policies and procedures for open-door, selective and non-traditional programs in accordance with related institutional, state and federal regulations.
Work collaboratively with colleagues outside of the Enrollment Management Division in Academic and Student Affairs and Finance so that applicants and students receive the necessary support they need throughout their time at the institution. (Financial Resources, Academic Advising, Academic and Disability Support).
Maintain and assess the college admissions and recruitment web site.
Collaborate with Enrollment and Marketing staff to ensure that the college catalog, (Acalog), is accurate and published in a timely manner.
Participate in the design of Banner procedures and Admission policy procedures for the Enrollment Management Department, Student Information Centers, and Academic Planning Centers, in conjunction with the supervisors from those areas.
Coordinate all departmental tele-communications activities ? including SARS Grid and personal calls. Ensure that admissions staff have all necessary information and training.
Serve as an active member of the Enrollment Working Group, Middlesex Community College Faculty Staff Association, the Curriculum Committee and the Massachusetts Community College System Admissions Officers Group.
Satisfactorily complete all professional responsibilities within the timeframe necessary to meet organizational needs.
Perform other related duties as required.
Provides direct supervision and leadership for specific assigned Admissions Professional Staff and the Admissions Administrative Assistants. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Middlesex Community College's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc.
May use computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
More than half of time spent in normal office setting.

Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or a closely related field.
Five (5) years of progressive experience in college admissions that includes marketing, public relations, academic counseling/advisement, and staff supervision.
Higher education recruitment and admission professional experience.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, and to participate in the development of relevant and realistic plans, programs, and goals for the department.
Exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to manage and motivate staff to maximize recruitment potential.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission and student population.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and experience working with and/or understanding individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with college deans, faculty, and staff.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, time and resources.
Experience with the technology necessary to support admissions and recruitment activities in a higher education environment. Demonstrated ability to coordinate large-scale college programs and activities.
Prior experience with Ellucian Banner or a similar enterprise system, Microsoft Access or Argos, SARS Grid or other appointment scheduling software, document imaging, communications technologies such as degree auditing software.
Location: The primary location will be on the Lowell campus with occasional travel to the Bedford campus and off-site locations.
Salary: $77,000 - $92,400
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm
