CONTENT DIRECTOR, COMMUNICATIONS , Alumni Association (MITAA)-Strategic Communications and Marketing (SCM ), to collaborate with SCM leadership on leading the overall content strategy across MITAA's various content platforms and vehicles in support of its vision to engage and inspire the MIT global community to make a better world. Data-driven decisions will be expected and data-based results will be similarly important. Key responsibilities include articulating and leading content strategy in support of the strategic direction set by MITAA leadership and in support of its efforts to connect MIT alumni around the world with one another and with the Institute; setting a digital-first content direction that is rich in storytelling--human, MIT-quirky, informative, and inspiring--and will be utilized across MITAA's various platforms (website, blog, newsletters, social media, and magazine) and across the broader MIT communications' landscape. Will manage four direct reports, part-time staff, and freelance writers.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's a plus), preferably in English, journalism, communications, or related field; at least seven years' work experience, preferably in content strategy and marketing, publication management, and/or inbound marketing; management experience; strong storytelling and exceptional editing and writing skills; experience with social media and digital content platforms; ability to demonstrate ties between the communications strategies, MITAA, and MIT engagement and philanthropic goals; and ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Advancement experience highly requested. Experience with Photoshop and other Adobe products, HTML, CSS, and CMS platforms preferred. Job #16502-Q
