The Washington D.C. office of Hogan Lovells is seeking applicants with a minimum of five years of experience for a lawyer position to support the knowledge management and business development initiatives of the Government Regulatory Group including Education, Government Contracts, Government Relations and Transportation practice areas. Although law firm experience is preferred for this role, in-house or government experience is also acceptable.

We assist education clients to comply with applicable law, represent them in transactional matters, help them protect their intellectual property, defend them in disputes, and expand their operations globally.

We seek candidates who are genuinely interested in learning about our major industries we serve (transportation, aerospace/defense, information technology, health care/medical products, and higher education/research) with the ability to work independently and also collaborate as part of our team. The Knowledge Lawyer role includes creating and maintaining model documents and precedents; training and educating lawyers on resources available to them; preparing high quality training materials for internal and external presentations and events and keeping lawyers up to date on market developments. The Knowledge Lawyer will collaborate with firm billing lawyers and various business services teams, including marketing and business development, learning and development, and research intelligence and information technology. The Knowledge Lawyer position is a non-associate and non-partner track position and has no billable-hour requirements.

Candidates must have a J.D. from a U.S.-accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, and a minimum of five years of experience. Although law firm experience is preferred for this role, in-house or government experience is also acceptable. We seek candidates with a high level of technical competence who have excellent drafting, research, organization, communications and interpersonal skills, who are motivated to work independently and also collaborate as part of our team.
