The Alliance for Children's Rights seeks an aggressive and energetic major gift professional with extensive events experience. The Events and Major Gifts Manager will develop, strategize, implement and coordinate fundraising events designed to build a major gifts program. The position will work closely with event committees and board members. Candidate must have excellent relationship management and organizational skills, be entrepreneurial and self-motivating, have good communication and presentation skills, be innovative, creative and adaptable and be comfortable working with donors, volunteers, staff and Board of Directors. Must be passionate about the issues of children and children's rights and able to promote the work and events of the charity. Position reports directly to the Chief Development Officer.

The Alliance for Children’s Rights protects the rights of impoverished, abused and neglected children and youth. Our lawyers, advocates and social workers, together with hundreds of pro bono attorneys and community volunteers, ensure that children who are at-risk or in foster care have safe, stable homes and can access the education, healthcare, and financial supports that they need. We also help transition-age youth overcome barriers to their stability and success, and we work statewide to improve child welfare practices and policies in order to remove the many obstacles that our clients face. Since 1992, we have helped over 150,000 children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage a major donor portfolio of up to 100 donors
Responsible for the creation cultivation and solicitation events that identify new potential major donors
Ability to articulate our complex work and inspire donors to connect with our mission
Implement all aspects of event creation, management and production with minimal supervision
Develop event goals, timelines, and budgets
Partner with communications team to create invitations, programs, tribute journals and promotional materials, including website content
Coordinate all aspects of donor solicitation including sponsor letters, invitations, e-vites, and post-event thank you letters
Track income and expenses for events
Coordinate sponsorships and major gifts for annual events and respond to donor and public inquiries about events
Process event-related income and ensure proper attribution and documentation of gifts in Raiser's Edge database
Create and cultivate relationships with donors and volunteers
Develop corporate donor relationships
Previous experience in events coordination or management, nonprofit development or nonprofit donor relationships
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
High energy approach and dedication to success
Capacity for strategic leadership and judgment
Demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial and self-motivating
Strong computer skills
Experience with Raiser's Edge 7 database
College graduate or equivalent professional experience
Experience in children's issues or in the public interest community (preferred)
Legal industry, entertainment industry or public relations experience (preferred)
