The SMC Project Manager* is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and executing projects from beginning to end in the Office of Partner Services and Operations.
The project scope can vary from single pieces of collateral to multifaceted, multichannel marketing campaigns. Working closely with and under the direction of Marketing Strategists, the Project Manager collects project information and is the point person for opening jobs in the job tracking system and tracking deadlines, objectives, budgets, etc. The position coordinates marketing and communication activities assigned. Other duties as assigned.
*The working title of this position is Project Manager. The position is classified as a Project Specialist.
Bachelors in English, communications, marketing, business, Advertising, public relations or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience.
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in project management or related experience.
Proven ability to plan, prioritize multiple projects, and complete them in a timely manner.
Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
Strong writing and editing skills, including the proven ability to prepare and proofread clear, concise and grammatically correct business correspondence and other documents.
Extraordinary skills in organizing and planning, problem analysis and problem solving.
Strong interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the university.
Strong technical skills to learn enterprise system, software and tools.
Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to use standard office equipment.
Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
Knowledge of marketing principles and concepts.
Ability to follow policies and procedures for Chapman University and the department; able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Comfortable with formal/group presentations; persuasive, adaptable, stress tolerant.
Experience in media selection and negotiation.
Experience with web/internet marketing and advertising.
Minimum 6 years' experience in a marketing or communications role.
