Reporting to the Executive Director. The Director of Development will oversee all aspects of resource development for Alivio and is responsible for development activities which include managing and implementing a grants calendar with proposal submissions to foundations and corporations each year; collaboration with staff on program goals, outcomes, activities and budgets; development of proposals for government contracts; and cultivation of relationships with program officers and individual donors, including stewardship of major gifts contributors. The Development Director will coordinate all marketing and public relations efforts of the agency, and lead volunteers in planning at least two special events each year. Is a member of the Executive Management Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Embraces and assures that department goals are aligned with Alivio Medical Center’s mission, goals and objectives.
Responsible for meeting the annual, governmental, corporation, foundation and individual funding goals of Alivio Medical Center.
Works closely with all staff to coordinate and collaborate on activities that have a bearing on fundraising programs
Works very closely with the Amigos de Alivio initiative to accomplish its purpose
Prepares semi-annual reports on the funding opportunities to the Board.
Develops and Maintains Annual Giving Program.
Oversees all aspects of a Capital Campaign when appropriate.
Documents all cultivation strategies, conversations, meetings, events, etc. on the donor database so as to establish and maintain a “moves” management system
Prepares a calendar of deadlines for reports due to Government entities, foundations and corporations who have funded Alivio Medical Center and submits reports on a timely basis
Manages Donor recognition on a timely basis
Responsible for the management of the Development Office; including the confidentiality of donor records, check and credit card data, pledge files, prospect files, gift accounting, mailing lists and related procedures. Maintains integrity of all gift/grant confidential information.
Works in close collaboration with members of the Board and volunteer committees toward success of development projects
Prepares and administers budgets for all development functions
Initiates online appeals and a Planned Giving/ bequest program in order to foster and obtain long term and substantive gifts
Maintains the agency’s website; including updating textual and photographic content.
Assists designated staff to coordinate the fundraising and marketing efforts of the annual Alivio Y Salud 5K Run for Health
Organizes and coordinates other types of Special Events such as press conferences, symposiums, and festival participation
Represents Alivio Medical Center at various community and city-wide events; provides a strong presence and participation.
Responsible for communication documents and electronic communications
Responsible for general oversight of all marketing activities, including branding.
Responsible for all of Alivio marketing materials including a quarterly electronic newsletter (Saludos), and annual report.
Prepares and submits press releases to all media – print, radio, television and online.
Responsible for developing an agency-wide volunteer program in conjunction with Human Resources
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
This position requires compliance with all of Alivio’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, all policies and procedures and Corporate Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.
Manages and supervises staff listed below, including hiring, training, evaluating and managing performance to meet departmental efficiency and performance measures in keeping with the Personnel Policies and Procedures and prevailing employment laws as appropriate.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with professional training in fundraising
Minimum of five years experience in fundraising, preferably in a health care or social service institution, with proven grant written success.
Excellent writing skills; detail oriented to detail, computer knowledge, and personable and outgoing with an ability to work well with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and other volunteers. Must have an ability to set priorities and organize duties and responsibilities. Fluent in Spanish Preferred.
