<p>Research Associate for the Institute for Urban & Regional Infrastructure Finance (IURIF)<br />This position is slated to start September 1, 2018, and end by June 30, 2019. It is renewable, upon funding availability.<br /><br /><strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br />Institute for Urban & Regional Infrastructure Finance (IURIF) is a newly created research center focusing on policy issues related to urban infrastructure finance from a regional perspective. We am hiring an additional research associate for applied research in public policy, public management, and public finance.<br /><br /><u>Major Areas of Responsibility:</u><br /><strong>Research (90% of time):</strong></p><ul><li><p>Participating in IURIF’s one or several research projects on budgeting practices, infrastructure finance, or economic impacts of infrastructure investment; </p></li><li><p>Develop case studies of intergovernmental fiscal arrangements in highway and transit projects;</p></li><li><p>Building connections with CTS and Local Road Research Board to develop future research projects; and</p></li><li><p>Assisting IURIF’s ongoing grant-writing activities to raise research funding for future years.</p></li></ul><p><br /><strong>Management (10% of time)</strong></p><ul><li><p>Supervise up to three graduate research assistants (GRAs) on several research projects.</p></li></ul><p> </p><p>University job classification: Researcher 4 (8352R4)<br />Salary will commensurate with level of education, experience, and skills. Salary range: $48K-$52k</p>
<p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>An earned master’s degree in public-affairs related social sciences (public administration and policy, economics, political science, urban studies, etc.) and 2 years of relevant experience;</li><li>Experience with data collective and applied research (statistical analysis, surveys, interviews, or case studies); </li><li>Effective technical writing and presentation skills;</li><li>Organizational skills and ability to multitask to manage demands of multiple projects and partners.</li></ul><p><br /><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience of working with state and local governments;</li><li>Training in public budgeting, public finance, and public financial management</li><li>Familiar with policy issues related to infrastructure development;</li><li>Proficient in data visualization or spatial data analysis; or good at qualitative research methods (questionnaires, surveys, interviews, etc.)</li></ul>
