Essential Functions: Job Purpose:The Associate Director, Law School Admissions is responsible for leading efforts in the development, implementation, and assessment of recruitment and enrollment plans and strategies in support of the achievement of enrollment goals for the Law School. Serves as the lead coordinator of major outreach and admission events including orientation, open houses, and dean's luncheons and admitted student dinners/lunches. Determines the focus, content, communications and logistics of these events to target prospective and new students and provide a positive and rewarding experience. Essential Functions: Collaborate with the Law School Admissions Director and/or the Law School Admissions Assistant Dean as well as key members of the University in order to meet enrollment targets. Serve as primary liaison between the Law School Admissions office and program directors in the coordination of admission procedures and the execution of marketing and recruitment plans and materials. Assist with developing and implementing strategic plans, activities and programs that support the Law School's strategic enrollment goals. Oversee day-to-day operations supporting the recruitment and admission of graduate/doctoral students and increase the yield of prospective students. Work collaboratively with Marketing and Communications to develop and execute marketing and communication strategies to support enrollment goals. Provide admissions counseling to prospective and admitted students. Highlight benefits of the Law School using specific examples and a thorough explanation of programs and opportunities. Promote the community environment, alumni network and career opportunities.Recruit students to the Law School by developing and implementing innovative and effective recruitment strategies. Professionally promote the Law School through recruitment events on campus and across the country. Create new strategies aimed at growing applicant pool.Provide leadership to staff that aids with coordination, logistics and communication of the various events. Recruit, hire, direct daily activities, coach, counsel, train and develop the staff to ensure accurate and timely customer service delivery. Monitor all admissions processes and procedures and provide analysis and recommendations for new and improved recruiting methods.
Qualifications: Education:Bachelor's degree in business, law or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted. Juris Doctorate preferred.Experience:Five to seven years' experience in a college admissions office; law school admissions preferred. Progressively responsible experience in leadership roles.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of enrollment planning strategies, recruitment/admission policies and procedures and budget processes. Knowledge of higher education administration. Working knowledge of information technology systems and demonstrated ability to use computer software systems for word processing, database manipulation, electronic mail, spreadsheet software, and web site editing. Proficiency in LSAC computer systems, including ACES, preferred.LEADERSHIP SKILLS: Demonstrated leadership and management skills. SUPERVISORY SKILLS: Ability to follow through consistently on inquiries, requests, and suggestions. Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train staff and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among staff members. Ability to be committed to the goals and mission of the college and university. ANALYTICAL SKILLS: Skills and knowledge to identify, gather, and analyze information (including statistical material) into meaningful reports and/or documents. Ability to analyze complex policies and regulations and exercise sound judgment in their application. Strong listener, ability to resolve problems, to develop relevant alternatives and communicate recommendations. PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and with a team; handle multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail. COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills so as to establish positive public relations for the University. Ability to form strong coalitions with internal and external constituencies.Ability to work evenings and weekends. Some overnight travel is required.
