The Research Associate/Communications Specialist works to promote the accomplishments of HPDP researchers and research projects and provide the Center with a cohesive identity to market the Center for future work and success. The Communications Specialist works closely with the Managing Directors for Research and Operations to complete all external and internal communications activities. This position also includes coordination of some Center-wide activities, including training programs and seminars.
The Communications Specialist also represents the Center in all campus-wide and national committees focused on health, research and science communications. The Communications Specialist collaborates with other communications professionals across UNC and among national funders to ensure the Center’s work is promoted appropriately. This position is 0.50 FTE, with potential to increase effort over time.
Education and Experience:
The Research Associate/Communications Specialist must be familiar with research methodology, particularly those related to public health, health promotion and disease prevention. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required. The person in this position must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while also maintaining connections with supervisors and teams. Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe Design software, EndNote and Wordpress also highly desirable. Photography experience and knowledge of creating and editing short videos is also desired.
Three years of experience in a health research setting is preferred.
