Position Summary: The Assistant Director, Strategy, works closely with the Associate Director, Strategy, to provide high-quality, consistent, and timely communication and marketing support for the Division of University Advancement. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and implementing tactical communication strategies; offering marketing support for division clients as well as colleges, campuses, schools and units; coordinating publications and producing/coordinating content for a variety of alumni and fundraising materials for internal and external (print and digital) audiences and publications (including Ohio Today). The Assistant Director supports the development of multimedia content for Division websites and social media outlets. He/she supports the University’s marketing, fundraising, and alumni engagement goals.
Primary Accountabilities: 1. Develop and implement tactical communication strategies for the offices of Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, Annual Giving and Gift Planning and/or other Division clients as needed, including branding and messaging for both internal and external audiences. Serve as account executive/liaison between clients and ACM team, interpret and communicate client needs to design, digital, and content staff members for initiatives that require the support of those ACM teams. Organize and implement marketing projects into workflow (and shepherd those projects to completion); prepare assets for print and digital communication tactics; provide communication and marketing support as needed for Division clients as well as colleges, schools and units; coordinate client publications; develop content for Ohio Today magazine, ohiotoday.org, and other original communication products and publications. 50 % of Time
2. Support the production of quality multimedia projects for Division, client, and University-wide initiatives for use at formal events and for publication on highly-visible University webpages and social media channels. This includes video production and mentoring student videographers. Work with third party vendors to facilitate video and other multimedia support. 20 % of Time
3. Participate in and support external working groups to plan, coordinate and execute original communications products and publications related to events, programs and initiatives that partner with University Advancement. This includes working with gift officers as needed to coordinate major gift proposals, cases for support, and other development/fundraising materials. 20 % of Time
4. Edit documents to ensure consistency and accuracy regarding grammar, punctuation, syntax, and acceptable institution style); and evaluation of factual accuracy and consistency of information – chronology of events, overall consistency of subject matter; verification of facts, rearrangement or deletion of material, analysis of data, and evaluation of documentation as to accuracy and thoroughness. 10 % of Time
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field from a four-year accredited college or university required.
At least 1 year of applicable professional experience (graduate fellowships and assistanceships may be considered as professional experience).
Basic knowledge of event planning, budgeting, social media, web analytics, and design. **An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
Additional Salary Information: The hiring range is $39,115 – $49,871. Pay will be commensurate with education and experience. Employees also enjoy a generous benefits package which includes health benefits, paid time off, and education benefits for the employee and his or her eligible dependents.
