The CEO position provides leadership to the organization and is responsible for the overall management, planning, accountability and administration of the company. This individual is responsible for the creation and nurturing of new ideas and initiatives that advance the goals of Harvest Hope Food Bank.
As the food bank’s most visible community representative, the CEO will represent and speak for the organization and its work, raise funds and other resources, nurture collaborations with other local, regional and national organizations. This position will partner with agencies, sponsors, donors, businesses/corporations, volunteers and the general public to inspire them to support and engage in work of solving hunger.
Duties of the position:
Provide vision and leadership for the organization
Along with the Board, Advisory Committee and staff, develop a strategic plan for the organization
Ensure all annual operating and financial goals are met
With the development staff, direct the development efforts of HHFB, including setting and achieving financial goals for various fundraising campaigns, creating corporate sponsorships and similar alliances with for-profit entities, building long-term relationships with foundations and enhancing revenue from individual donors
Become the face and voice of Harvest Hope Food Bank and solutions to the issue of hunger throughout our service area and beyond
Engage board members in external relationship-building, resource development and collaboration activities
Oversee the Finance Department; assist in creating the annual budget and achieve the highest level of fiscal responsibility
Support staff by maintaining high levels of employee morale; fostering a spirit of teamwork throughout the organization; strengthening internal communications; encouraging data-driven decision making and ensuring accountability for results.
Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure continued direction and communication with all its members
Support and advance diversity, equity and inclusion as core components of HHFB’s culture.
Follow and meet Diversity initiatives/requirements as established by Feeding America.
Ensure that HHFB is a leader and collaborates among other food banks in the State of South Carolina and the national Feeding America network
Collaborate with area non-profits and government agencies to partner with us in our fight to end hunger in South Carolina
Stay current on environmental changes that could affect the organization
Significant executive level leadership and management experience in a successful, growth-oriented organization of similar size and complexity
Demonstrated ability to attract financial and other resources to a cause, substantial experience cultivating and expanding donor relationships and the ability to identify new revenue streams
Exceptional track record of exceeding fundraising and/or sales goals as well as proven effectiveness in leading fundraising or sales team in an organization
A strategic thinker with well-honed business acumen and demonstrated experience working with and motivating people in diverse, community-wide collaborations to address complex problems
Excellent written and oral skills. Proven effectiveness in addressing large groups
Support staff by maintaining high levels of employee morale; fostering a spirit of teamwork throughout the organization; strengthening internal communications; encouraging data-driven decision-making and ensuring accountability for results
A basic understanding of the legislative process and advocacy with a well-developed political savvy and understanding of bureaucracy, including knowledge of local, state and federal programs
Experience in the food industry a plus
Proven experience with fiscal management, budgeting and operations including responsibility for developing and managing a multi-million dollar budget
Experience supporting the board of directors in its governance role, fostering its ongoing development, engaging its members in strategy and resource development and keeping it informed
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Social Services or related field. Relevant advanced degree preferred
