Associate Director for Alumni Professional Networks and Affinity Groups

To play an integral role in building new programs, outreach, and volunteer engagements that strengthen the connections between alumni, parents, and community with St. Olaf College. This role will partner with internal staff and external volunteers to create, manage, and evaluate the success of Ole Professional Networks, a new suite of programs and events organized around professional identity or interest, and to manage outreach to specific affinity groups.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Build a network of Ole Professional Networks (OPN) that cater to industry categories supported in conjunction by the Piper Center for Vocation and Career – 60% of time
Develop an overall vision for engaging alumni and parents through professional industry groups with corresponding measurement to determine program effectiveness.
Engage staff drawn from the Piper Center, Marketing and Communications, and other Advancement departments and college offices as appropriate to develop a five-year plan for the program and appropriate goals and next steps for implementation, including industry groups, speakers, and communication rollout.
As appropriate, develop the volunteer infrastructure and strategy needed to support the program which would include a recruitment plan, volunteer roles, training materials, goal setting and reporting to ensure that volunteers reach their full potential in support of the program's objectives.
Promote the program, leveraging the reach of existing communication channels (social media, website, monthly e-newsletter, etc.).
Explore and assist with social media implementation.
Create event schedule that works in concert with the Piper Center's calendar for its Connections program and similar offerings.
Set goals and develop metrics to measure the OPN pilot's effectiveness and to help select industries in which to expand the program.
Lead outreach efforts to assigned affinity groups – 30 % of time
Work in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to develop a strategic plan for alumni affinity engagement, which includes alumni of color, LGBTQIA+, musicians, athletes, etc., and create a multi-year implementation planning process that includes determining appropriate programming, volunteer involvement, communications, and partnership strategies.
As needed, identify, recruit, train and manage volunteers, and ensure that all volunteers are coded in Raiser's Edge.
Set goals and create metrics to measure affinity outreach effectiveness and impact.
Other team responsibilities - 10% of time
Assist with events, programs and projects as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support APR's mission and needs.

Education: Bachelors degree; maintain a valid drivers license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record
Experience: 5+ years of professional experience; experience engaging, leading, and motivating a diverse community of stakeholders; experience managing teams or volunteers in support of specific goals and building effective teams or networks of committed volunteers; demonstrated track record in design and evaluation of new programs
Experience: 7+ years of experience managing volunteers or event planning, exercising independent judgment and taking initiative; a proven track record of successfully contributing to a team
