The Office of Community Relations is seeking a Community Relations Coordinator to assist the Director with developing and strengthening the department's relationships with university decanal units to provide internal stakeholders with assistance and advice related to advocacy and engagement with local businesses, organizations and citizens' groups. The primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Assist the Director of Community Relations in implementing programs and initiatives to build strong, supportive partnerships with UB’s regional residents, community organizations, schools, civic and business groups, and local government, advancing the overall interests of the university.
Manage outreach to decanal units, and identify ways to assist and help with their community engagement.
Identify opportunities to connect UB's external stakeholders and partners with university resources.
Assist in developing content for Office of Community Relations communications and apprise members of the university community of opportunities for their engagement with the university's multiple communities and constituencies.
Assist with the administrative operations of the Office of Community Relations, including management of information flow, communications, technology, and assistance with budget.
Coordinate the university's SEFA campaign in conjunction with committee members, campus leadership, employee liaisons, and campaign administrators.
0-1 year of experience in community or government relations, nonprofit community, or related field required
Related administrative experience required, preferably in a college/university or executive level administrative environment
Related community or government relations, nonprofit, community, or related field experience required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical to this position.
Thorough understanding of issues facing Higher Education and the Western New York community
Ability to exercise discretion, and make decisions in a timely and effective manner.
