The IU School of Liberal Arts is seeking an Assistant Director of Digital Media who can create engaging and user-focused digital experiences by applying exceptional design skills, a thorough understanding of various web languages and platforms, and the ability to thrive in a multi-faceted environment. We're a collaborative, creative, and fun team with a deep passion for liberal arts, and we're looking for a teammate who shares our commitment to producing relevant, effective, quality work on behalf of IU and IUPUI. The Assistant Director of Digital Media will build, maintain, and optimize a full suite of websites, digital publications, and other digital media projects that help us communicate with our key audiences of prospective and current students, faculty, alumni, donors, and community members.
The ideal candidate will possess an extremely high level of proficiency in creative and art design with the ability to interpret strategy; helping to organize, code, publish, and update our sites; evaluating site performance with thorough analysis; liaising with our IT team and other key stakeholders; and ensuring that the IU School of Liberal Arts' digital presence adheres to security and accessibility guidelines. Working under the direction of the Marketing and Public Relations Director, you'll monitor trends, develop metrics to measure success and help plan design strategies to keep our audiences engaged. Develop and execute communication strategy, create/design visual layouts, manage, implement, contribute, and monitor content for a variety of communications channels and formats: digital, print, web, social media, email, photography to promote the school as a world-class institution for urban education and research.
Manage and implement training for faculty and staff on dynamic database-driven, flexible content management systems.
Develop mobile-first websites, with a demonstrated working knowledge of responsive web design
Apply internet security, usability, and accessibility issues, including CAS authentication (familiarity with WCAG 2.0 guidelines is a plus) to digital media.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in design or art, plus 3 years of professional experience in front-end development and web editing.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Skilled in working with graphics programs such as Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, and InDesign. Knowledge of, and experience with, digital marketing.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, communication skills, and work some weekend and evening hours.
Will travel between departments and centers within the School of Liberal Arts for meetings and other tasks. Maintain a calm and professional demeanor with superiors and subordinates.
