The Office of International Programs at Wofford College invites applications for a creative, student-focused, team-oriented Study Abroad Advisor with excellent communication and customer service skills. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for International Programs, the Study Abroad Advisor will be responsible for engaging with the Wofford student body and on and off-campus offices and partners as well as providing opportunities and resources which foster global awareness and intercultural development.
The Study Abroad Advisor is a full-time exempt salaried position, and the normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. Some evening and weekend hours will be expected along with some domestic and international travel and professional development opportunities.
Advise students about study abroad opportunities
Provide student scholarship promotion and support
Offer support and programming to diverse student groups on campus
Event Planning and Execution
Organize and market study abroad events, including pre-departure orientations, re-entry programming, and study abroad fairs
Provide support and assist with programming for international students
Collaborate with on and off-campus stakeholders
Create and maintain a variety of marketing materials (brochures, website, etc.)
Cultivate student engagement through social media platforms
Hire, train, and supervise student Global Ambassadors
Schedule and lead Global Ambassador monthly meetings
Provide administrative and programmatic support to the Office of International Programs
Prepare study abroad budget sheets for financial aid purposes
Process student transcripts from off-campus partners
Other duties as delegated, elected and/or assigned
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and previous study abroad and/or international work experience. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills and an interest in the field of international education. Effective organization and project management expertise will be valuable. The incumbent will be proactive, flexible, and creative in managing different projects, proposing and implementing new programming efforts, and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or similar) is required and familiarity and effective use of a variety of social media platforms is highly desirable.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, experience with Terra Dotta Software and/or Banner, previous experience in hiring, training, and managing student workers, and previous work experience in international education.
