Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Strategic Engagement Coordinator to maintain positive working relationships with dignitaries, donors, and guests of the University president and spouse. This position will facilitate inclusive engagement and outreach of diverse groups on campus and in the community. Duties include assisting with the President’s Leadership Class, researching and proposing new, university-wide initiatives, managing day-to-day operations, and planning, organizing, and implementing university wide events, including events at the president's house. This requires coordinating logistics for events with a variety of departments; arranging for necessary services from appropriate service providers; recording details related to each event or function; assisting in the development of public relations strategies; coordinating on-site assistance for events or functions; and performing various duties as required to ensure continual operation and a high level of service.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organization skills and outstanding communication, tact, and liaison abilities in order to strengthen numerous relationships with students, faculty, staff, donors, friends and community and political leaders. They will be able to manage both big-picture, policy driven initiatives and small, detail-oriented projects simultaneously while positively representing the presidential family and wider university community. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 6 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience that demonstrates event coordination involving diverse groups which includes dignitaries, donors, and guests of the University president and spouse.
Experience that demonstrates the ability to research and/or coordinate projects on behalf of the President’s Office.
Demonstrable experience in managing day-to-day facility operations while coordinating multiple support staff and agencies.
Experience working and collaborating with the ISU Foundation, ISU Dining, Facilities Planning and Management, University Museums, University Architect, outside contractors and vendors.
Demonstrated knowledge of Iowa State University policies, programs, stakeholders, and partners, including student and faculty life.
University-level teaching experience.
This position serves at the pleasure of university administration and is exempt from certain P&S policies.
