Our award-winning marketing team seeks an experienced, motivated, innovative, and highly creative Multimedia Designer. This person will join a team of forward thinking risk-takers and be responsible for designing and developing visually compelling strategic communications for high-end print and multimedia projects and campaigns.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a high level of design sophistication and who is passionate about both traditional and digital media.
The salary range for this position is $62,000 to $72,000.
Work both independently and collaboratively to design visually compelling strategic communications for high-end print/multimedia projects and campaigns for both internal and external audiences.
Assess and determine the needs of the clients and effectively deliver their message.
Design a wide range of print pieces, including but not limited to: invitations, brochures, posters, editorial layouts, event promotion, mementos, etc.
Create digital assets that can be used in various channels including display, email, newsletters, social media, website, video, and presentations.
Design websites that adhere to web best practices, LSA standards, and accessibility guidelines.
Design visual identities and infographics using a strong sense of craft and typographic sensibility.
Take initiative and contribute enthusiastically and strategically to the creative process.
Give and receive direction, engage others in an authentic, open, and positive manner, and interact productively during brainstorming sessions.
Demonstrate an attention to detail with an eye for clean, sophisticated aesthetics, and a clear point of view.
Support and promote LSA brand and messaging. Apply style guides creatively while upholding LSA brand identity and standards.
Make an ongoing commitment to improving skills, acquiring new technical knowledge, and staying informed of innovative design trends.
Adjust and color correct photography and image assets from several different sources for projects ranging from the LSA Magazine to the college website.
Hold self and others to LSA Advancement’s core values.

A bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of 5-8+ years professional experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience as demonstrated in a creative portfolio.
A high level of general computer and software proficiency, with extensive experience in design and layout software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, AdobeXD) and Sketch. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google tools.
Excellent art direction instincts and high level of design sophistication with the ability to produce conceptual ideas—including sketches, storyboards, moodboards and prototypes—in order to create engaging visual solutions.
Website and HTML email design and development experience. A working knowledge of HTML/CSS. Ability to translate design solutions across a variety of digital channels.
A solid understanding of web accessibility standards and a demonstrated commitment to designing with those standards in mind.
Demonstrable experience in working independently to create high quality printed or digital content, including researching skills. Able to take multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish with minimal supervision, often on tight deadlines.
Proven ability to utilize new technologies, standards and trends, and contribute to strategy formulation for the most effective message delivery.
Keen eye for selecting and directing photography and illustration, and exceptional typography skills.
Some publication/editorial design experience.
Some knowledge of environmental graphics, swag items, and 2D/3D package design.
Experience working with a project management system.
The ability to positively translate feedback—whether received from clients or from performance analysis—into improved work.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, work effectively and thrive in a collaborative, team-based, positive work environment.
Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ability to communicate clearly with project managers, designers, writers and clients.
3+ years of publication/editorial design experience.
Professional experience in advertising or marketing-related environment is preferable.
Ability to produce original illustrations for use in print materials, packaging design, and digital platforms.
Deep understanding of HTML/CSS and web design principles and best practices.
Solid UI/UX skills, with the ability to produce storyboards, wireframes and prototypes.
Website development and authoring experience and/or knowledge of a content management system a plus.
Direct experience using Wrike as a project management solution..
Familiarity with University of Michigan structure, resources, and policies.
Passion for the University of Michigan and the liberal arts.
Experience in a higher education, philanthropic, institutional advancement, or marketing-related setting.
