This role supports the Communications Team for Harvard Catalyst, Harvard's clinical and translational science center and other related grants/projects under the center. Funded by the NIH, the center is part of a national consortium that offers resources, education and training, funding, and other services to Harvard faculty and researchers. www.catalyst.harvard.edu
Reporting to the Director of Communications and working closely with the Communications Strategist, the Communications Coordinator supports administrative functions and communications for both organizations, working with the three-person team to develop communication strategies, increase audience engagement, manage day-to-day communications, and implement programs and initiatives, as follows:
-Support outreach to Harvard researchers through our editorial platforms. Schedule, organize and arrange articles, and other written content including organizing photos and working with other vendors for Harvard Catalyst editorial, including the biweekly newsletter, website, and social media channels, among others. Collect analytics on various channels (web, social media, etc).
-Assist in communicating about Harvard Catalyst's tools, resources, and training programs and other offerings by coordinating the development of brochures, informational cards, and event programs. Edit, fact-check, and proofread all materials to ensure accuracy and overall quality control.
-Engage with key communications contacts and constituents across partner academic healthcare centers, organizations, and other schools/centers at Harvard, sharing information about Harvard Catalyst offerings via email and social media. Maintain and update master contact databases, and maintain relationships with key staff in this area. Maintain communications contacts and coordinate emails with national consortium members (CTSAs).
-Support a robust and strategic outreach plan by coordinating editorial, web, video, and social media initiatives, special emails, and preparing presentations for research and player meetings and events.
-Ensure projects are delivered on time and in line with best communications practices. Coordinate project management with all members of the team, including communications strategist, graphic designer, and freelancers including photographer and writers. Track office accounting, invoices, expenses, and other team budget items. Order office supplies and manage subscriptions.
-Play a key role in developing marketing materials and promotional items. Organize bulk orders for promotional and marketing materials to disseminate to former players. Research new vendors and maintain relationships with existing vendors. Other duties including organizing team meetings, managing paper and digital files for the team, and supporting events with other team members.
This is a term position with an end date of April 30, 2020.

Two or more years of related experience. Previous writing, editing, proofreading skills, and project management, as well as experience with social media required. Experience using Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint. Experience working with all programs in Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud, WordPress, and email marketing programs (MailChimp).
BA in communications, marketing, journalism, graphics, or related field preferred. Interest and/or experience working for higher education and/or medical communications a plus. Basic Photoshop and graphic design skills a plus. Demonstrated understanding of writing for the web and social media. Ability to work independently and across teams, with a variety of projects and constituencies, and perform well in a deadline-driven environment. Applicants must be detailed oriented, customer oriented, proactive, and be able to multi-task and follow through. Occasional evening and weekend hours required for events.
