Director of Operations for large Chicago Lincoln Park Church
Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor, directly Supervises: Administrative Assistant, Maintenance Director, Bookkeeper/Database Manager, Youth Administrator
This full time position reports to the Senior Pastor and functions as the chief operating officer, coordinating all financial, facility management, human resources and administration functions. The position manages a team of 4 full-time employees, working closely with a staff of 12. It works closely with the Executive Committee and Senior Pastor.
The Director of Operations will provide organization and smooth procedures to the church office, equipping church professionals and lay members with support while overseeing all aspects of our database and communications. Act as direct Administrative Support to Senior Pastor. Organize and manage such support for other pastors and youth ministry/Sunday School.
Oversees the functions of our finances by coordinating with the Bookkeeper, Auditors and accounting firm employed by the church.
Oversees all SPUCC Human Resource functions, including staffing, benefits administration and compensation. Administers church benefit plans, including medical/dental plans, flexible spending accounts, and UCC Pension Board plans. Develops and implements human resources policies, programs and initiatives. Works closely with the Senior Pastor and the Executive Committee on personnel matters, including annual performance reviews for all employees.
Implements policies for bidding, leading negotiations for price/terms, awarding work and approving vendors in conjunction with the Maintenance Director and Facilities Committee. Maintain building use calendar.
Directs our internal communications efforts, coordinating our weekly email/newsletter, social media presence, website, and overseeing production of our weekly worship bulletin.
Essential Functions: Work with Database Manager to maintain and operate a 3,000 member database. Operate all of the church's audio-visual equipment, including televisions, apple tv, laptop computers. Organize administrative support for Associate Pastors. Organize administrative support for the Church Council members and Committee Chairs. Manage/Maintain the Saint Pauls web-site with fresh photos and new events. Be familiar with a variety of word processing programs, including XL, Word, Pages
Participate in weekly staff meetings. Work Sunday mornings quarterly. Attend occasional evening committee meetings, no more than three evenings per month.
Able to move freely in and out of different church rooms. Able to speak, read and hear clearly, Able to lift up to 20 lbs

This position provides a minimum base salary of $65,000 and offers participation in benefits programs including Medical, Dental, Life, Disability, Flexible Savings Account, an Annuity plan and 3 weeks annual vacation.

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills.
Facility management experience, including negotiating contracts and managing vendors. Strong organizational and execution skills; able to manage changing priorities efficiently and seamlessly. Familiarity with Google Docs, Word, XL. Exposure to non-profit or faith-based organizations a plus.
