This position supports the development and implementation of International Paper's Global Citizenship Strategy, focusing on the Strategic Drivers - Investing in People and Improving the Planet. The position will also support for the company's Vision 2020 goals, objectives and enhance corporate-wide People and Planet strategies.
The position will work across IP businesses and facilities, with internal and external customers and other key stakeholders on projects or programs that involve several of the following topics:
Environmental and Social sustainability
IP product value chain
Community Engagement activities addressing critical community needs focusing on our strategic focus areas of Hunger, Education, Health & Wellness and Disaster Relief
The advancement of the IP Way Forward initiative
Serve as the point person for Sustainability and Community Engagement activities
Maintain key relationships with national nonprofit community partners and identify engaging opportunities for employees, retirees, and family members that support IP's Strategic Causes and critical community needs
Coordinate financial, in-kind, and employee volunteer efforts associated with national Signature Cause strategic events such as home fire prevention, food bank initiatives, environmentally-focused efforts, and other community engagement and employee retention initiatives
Track and report on key engagement metrics
Work closely with Communications to develop materials to promote and communicate IP strategies with all key stakeholders (volunteers, employees, and retirees)
Work with Communications, Government Relations, and IP facilities to promote results internally and externally, which requires coordination with all aspects of the Global Citizenship team
Manage Planet initiatives with strategic partners, including project implementation, timely follow up and reporting, budget tracking, and communication aspects. Ensure project alignment with IP Way Forward strategic drivers and corporate sustainability goals
Support development of IP’s next generation of sustainability goals
Represent the company in external events, conferences, partnership development, and industry meetings
Support effective internal and external communication of company initiatives within Global Citizenship, including outreach media
Bachelor's degree, preferred minimum 3 years of experience with project coordination and relevant technical skills
Strong project management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituents with varying expectations (National Sales Managers, Human Resources, Legal, Volunteers, current employees, corporate leaders, non-governmental organizations, third party auditing body)
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to manage highly detailed events with multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with diverse stakeholders (e.g., corporate leadership, local/state political leaders, special interest groups)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
