Coordinates and manages MSUCOM admissions and pre-college program activities, including primary responsibility of the program offerings of the MSUCOM Admissions Office, including but not limited to: 1) Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program (OMSP) liaison; 2) Future DOcs Programs (Detroit, Macomb and Lansing); 3) OsteoCHAMPS; 4) Student Ambassador Program. Additionally, helps develop and implement recruitment plans and retention strategies for admissions and pre-college programs; coordinates multiple-mini interview days, serves as a liaison with key university offices interests such as the college student activities office, the Learning Assessment Center, various academic departments, MSU's Office of Admissions and external partners.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing programs, interview days, and other events; experience with public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web-based; budget and records maintenance and computer support; experience in database, spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, knowledge of HTML programming and web site development and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Requirements: 1) Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license and have own transportation to travel to other MSUCOM sites located in Southeast Michigan and work weekends and/or evenings in order to perform duties of the position; 2) Other skills and/or physical abilities required to perform duties of the position.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a Master's degree; experience working with pre-college programs, working in a higher education institution and/or with college students, acting as communications liaison for the supervisor and experience working with and generating reports. Strong organizational, communication and time management skills; highly motivated self-starter; emotionally intelligent problem solver; experience in decision-making; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals; ability to handle confidential information; ability to work productively in both team and individual settings.
