Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the full-time position of Head Athletic Coach, Men's Golf. This is a 12-month, full-time position. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Administer all phases of the program with integrity and within the guidelines, rules and regulations of Western Kentucky University, Conference USA and the NCAA.
Assist in the implementation of the academic program, including the monitoring of individual student-athlete's progress to ensure academic eligibility, the enforcement of study and tutorial programs, and referral to appropriate University academic resources.
Have a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport, and maintain thorough and continual familiarity with all applicable University, Conference USA, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Coach practice sessions and workouts, as allowed, and coach during athletics events.
Scout for and recruit quality student-athletes and effectively communicate with them.
Coach, train and motivate student-athletes in order to achieve competitive success.
Work with student-athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, appearance, and behavior.
Manage scholarships, team travel, scheduling and equipment purchases within the allotted budget.
Engage in fundraising efforts and other public relations activities representing Western Kentucky University and the Men's Golf program.
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:
Must have knowledge and an understanding of NCAA rules regarding the sport of Men's Golf.
Must be self-motivated.
Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to manage game day preparation and activities.
The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation and customer service.
Minimum two years of collegiate coaching experience, teaching professionals or professional playing experience in the sport of golf.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Salary: $37,500 - $42,500 based on experience
