This position will ensure accurate calculation and reporting of Federal, State and Local taxable wages and tax withholdings, as well as unemployment tax. Ensure compliance with tax laws and filing and funding deadlines and meet expected turnaround times and deadlines for resolving Tax Notices and Employee research requests.
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelors required preferably in Finance or Accounting.
Minimum Experience Requirements
5 years of US Payroll tax experience is required.
Lawson, BSI and/or ADP experience preferred.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills to include pivot tables, V-LookUps, and formulas are required.
Advanced knowledge of a variety of desktop and mainframe computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs.
Advanced analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail required.
Above average interpersonal, organization, negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to process complex information and identify solutions that meet both internal and business partner requirements and deadlines.
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Reconcile Lawson Payroll system and interfaces with ADP systems and Federal, State and Local Tax Agencies, including Unemployment Tax; audit and validate transactions and balances.*
Assist with preparation of Tax Filings and Amendments including overseeing W-2 and W2C preparation, validation, and distribution; including preparation of corporate communications and communications with individual employees.*
Responsible for ensuring timely processing and remittance of Federal, State and Local Income Taxes and Unemployment Taxes. Ensure the accuracy of all Tax Withholding requirements and compliance with all Tax regulations and legislation.*
Oversee Payroll Tax set up in Lawson and BSI for multiple EINS and states as well as numerous locations within States. This includes the set-up of Codes within the systems, as well as, set up of tax exemptions for individual employees and set up for out of state workers.*
Responsible for ensuring resolution of employee's Payroll Tax questions in a timely manner.*
Process various required regulatory reports and provide reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.*
Analyzes and resolve discrepancies between Payroll Tax Withholdings and amounts funded and data transmitted to Payroll Tax Vendor and Tax Agencies.*
Analyze BSI Tax Update Bulletins (TUBs) and identify tax changes applicable to the Company. Define and execute testing plans to ensure updates are implemented timely and correctly, and draft communications to the audiences affected by the Tax changes.*
Manage, resolve and document Federal, State, and Local Agency Payroll Tax Notices.*
Responsible for the Set-up and maintenance of Withholding and UI Tax Accounts with Agencies.*
Responsible for timely Tax Payment processing.*
Manage relationship with ADP, Employers Unity, and BSI.*
Assist with Internal, External, and Government audits.*
Assist the Payroll Tax Manager and Team with special projects as needed.*
Collaborates and has detailed involvement with IT, HR and Payroll Department for all systems upgrades.*
Solid understanding of Labor Laws as well as Tax Laws.*
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
