The person in this position is a key member of the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, having the opportunity to provide direction for the planning, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of assessment activities across the University. The Director of Assessment will train and support academic and administrative units in their own assessment to achieve critical outcomes in support of the University’s goals. The person in this position will specifically:
-Assess, manage, and develop a highly effective and efficient team that is collaborative and cross-functional -Monitor the University's compliance with accreditation requirements related to assessment and with other accountability initiatives -Manage, supervise, and assess the institution's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), general education assessment plan, and the distance education assessment plan -Encourage and support the use of analytics and assessment results at all levels in strategic planning, decision-making, and other efforts aimed at improving institutional effectiveness -Provide in-depth analytical reports and statistical summaries to support institutional effectiveness, policy development, and decision-making -Manage the institution's adoption of the Transparency Framework -Plan, select content, and publish a variety of publications related to institutional assessment -With leadership provided by the vice provost, contribute to and maintain the Unit website -Track and share data related to strategic priorities and student success initiatives -Serve as a representative on assessment and accreditation related councils -Support research and analysis initiatives related to the institution -Be responsible for performance outcomes of 2-3 team members
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OSPIE) at North Carolina A&T State University is the primary source of official data for the University. Its mission is to foster University effectiveness, including student success, by providing data and analysis for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning. OSPIE supports student learning assessment, the development and evaluation of academic programs, and institutional accreditation.

*Earned doctorate in educational assessment or related field (applicants with master's degree may be considered with additional years of experience) *Five years work experience in assessment or related field such as program evaluation *Demonstrated leadership in assessment and accreditation *Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills *Ability to be productive and creative in a diverse team *Experience in survey research *Experience in using assessment software to track student learning outcomes and program outcomes assessment *High level of interest and knowledge related to critical issues in higher education and student success *High level of skill in using software for quantitative analysis and presentation
