Northeastern University seeks an energetic, intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and thoughtful Writer/Editor to be part of a talented team working collaboratively to advance the university's mission. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for External Affairs, the Writer/Editor assists with crafting a range of sophisticated, conceptually driven high-level communications, including campus messages, talking points, and other materials related to university priorities and the Division's strategic objectives.
The Writer/Editor also supports implementation of the Division's external partnerships and thought leadership initiatives. This includes helping to develop the university's national public opinion survey research series related to higher education innovation issues, vetting external presidential speaking requests, drafting presidential communications to key internal audiences, and organizing a campus speaker series.
The Writer/Editor works collaboratively with colleagues within the Office of External Affairs (communications, marketing, and government relations), with departments and individuals across the entire university, as well as external constituents. The Writer/Editor also provides day-to-day support to the AVP, tracks various work streams and projects, and helps organize public events.
-Bachelors degree required. -Minimum of 5 years relevant, related experience. -Strong research, writing, and editing skills required and the ability to understand complex issues within a multifaceted organization. -Strategic thinking and analysis -Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven fast-paced environment. -Excellent project management, organizational skills, and attention to detail. - A self-starter with a solution-oriented approach -Experience preparing and staffing senior organizational leaders and VIPs is preferred. -Familiarity with research universities and higher education issues and trends is preferred.
