The Director of Communications for Student Success will be responsible for the creation and delivery of communications with a focus on the current student audience and will play an active role in engaging student community. The Director of Communications will report to the Associate Vice President for Student Success. This position is responsible for directing pro-active and strategic types of innovative communication strategies designed to positively shape the arc of the student experience. The Director will contribute to the overall retention and community-building efforts of Student Success by collaboratively implementing integrated marketing and communications strategy, as well as facilitating communications and information sharing across departments. ●Provides leadership, vision, and management to the Student Success offices to create and manage content for web, social, print and mobile channels. Oversees all daily operations, including mass mailings, website projects, print and online publications, event promotion, social media campaigns, branded material/merchandise, etc.; coordinates daily/weekly priorities among team members to meet deadlines and goals ●Develops marketing collateral and materials to support retention, graduation rates and community building activities. Oversees hiring and supervision of student workers, including assessing Student Success needs to assign projects to centralized student graphic designers. ●Collaborates with offices across the university (Marketing & Communications, Student Success offices, Registrar, Financial Aid, IT, academic units) for content, buy-in, implementation, data, and feedback. Serves as primary liaison to M&C's Project Manager. Serves as relationship manager to Student Conduct and Title IX Coordinator; oversees all relationship management across Student Success. ●As key partner to Orientation and Transition Programs, co-creates and co-manages communications plan for new student onboarding, graduation/commencement, and parent/family member programming. ●Oversees Student Success social media strategy and presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat) in close partnership with the Digital Engagement Manager and Social Media team. ●Ensures accuracy, consistency and timeliness of content on Student Success webpages by overseeing work of Communication Managers. Oversee the production schedule for all marketing and communication projects for current students working with our campus partners to ensure projects stay on schedule and budget according to the strategic communication plan. ●Leverages CRM tools and technologies to automate highly targeted and segmented communications to students as well as key influencers (guidance counselors, parents) ●Creates and coordinates communications for other university departments, schools and organizations to support Student Success Goals. Serves as primary liaison to communication leads in 5 schools + Parsons Paris. ●Supports the university's branding initiative and brand recognition strategies to cultivate The New School's brand. ●Sets annual goals and Student Success communications. Supports the growth and development of a high functioning team. Develops metrics for team success and evaluate staff and unit success against established metrics; actively looks for ways to streamline communication processes/operations for better resource management across Student Success as well as better outcomes. ●In collaboration with Marketing & Communications and the Office of Admissions, implements strategies, systems and structures of a multi-channeled (e-mail, direct mail, web, text, social media, phone calls) communication campaign designed to systematically and strategically move students through the enrollment funnel. ●Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years marketing and communications experience; Masters preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, writing, editing and oral communication skills
Management and leadership experience
Demonstrated experience preferably in the higher education
Able to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with other departments
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, all social media platforms and online content management
