Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department.
Provides planning and analytical support related to waste reduction programs, projects and planning function; assists in managing and coordinating waste reduction and contamination project/program work and support activities. Conduct quarterly visits to City's recycling drop off sites.
Facilitates multifamily community relationship management, including, but not limited to, conducting site visits, hosting events, integrating waste reduction content in community communication processes/documents, training, and executing other initiatives designed to increase recycling.
Researches and gathers information related to waste reduction planning efforts; prepares reports, maps, charts, data, presentations and/or other materials derived from research and analysis. Provides training and speaks at waste reduction events.
Assist with writing content for waste reduction enewsletter, Cityworks documentation, and project work with internal and external stakeholders; coordinates and monitors consultant work; develops work plans; monitors project status and quality of services; provides updates and recommendations to leadership.
Prepares and reviews technical documents and correspondence which may include request for qualification/request for proposal documents, grant applications, design schematics, graphs, charts, and detailed design plan documents.
Evaluates current waste reduction programs, processes and procedures; recommends improvements; facilitates and assists in implementing new processes and approved program changes. Assists with special project administration and coordination.
Serve as a waste reduction liaison and representative and coordinates/supports partnerships with other departments, host events, conducts tours, networks with external organizations and community groups. Monitors waste reduction consistency using FleetMind, Cityworks, the Microsoft Suite, and other operational tools. (i.e. shred events, earth day, composting, waste reduction committees)
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Prepares reports, applications, business cases, documents and serves as a project manager on designated projects.
Identifies, develops, implements and maintains waste reduction processes and practices to encourage, support and promote effective, comprehensive and meaningful citizen engagement.

Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in planning or public administration or field directly related degree to assignment and two years of related professional planning experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Licensing/Certifications Valid NC Driver's License required.
