The Office of International Affairs at South Dakota State University is seeking an outgoing, goal-oriented individual to help the university to achieve its international recruitment goals. The successful candidate will be genuinely honest, hardworking, determined and considers one of her/his strengths to be successfully working in a team focused environment.
The Coordinator of International Recruitment and Admissions helps to provide services to prospective international students and their families as they seek admission to the university. This position advises and assists international students throughout the application process and as they prepare for their arrival. The Coordinator will also help to prepare a strategic marketing campaign that will attract prospective international students. Further responsibilities include: evaluating international student applications to determine admissibility and make admission decisions; assisting with admission and creating immigration documents; traveling within the United States and overseas to various recruitment fairs and functions; and implementing and maintaining our CRM.

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Administration, TESOL, Marketing, Advertising, or Public Relations by date of application and a combination of at least three years of professional experience within a higher education setting, of which, a minimum of at least one year of experience should be in international admissions/enrollment management. Effective communication and interpersonal skills a must with prior experience working with people from other cultural backgrounds. This position communicates daily with students from different countries, international agencies, government officials, and the greater campus community. Applicants will need to have the capability to communicate well and problem solve.
Ability to assume Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) status for SDSU's U.S. Department of State approved J-1 Exchange Visitor Program and Designated School Official (DSO) status for the F-1 student program. Pursuant to 22 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part A §62.2, ARO Status requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence status. DSO Status also requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence status, per Department of Homeland Security regulations. Valid US driver’s license is also a requirement.
It is preferable that qualified candidates possess knowledge and direct experience in developing an international recruitment strategy and have had prior experience evaluating applications and determining admissibility of applicants; basic understanding of the field of International Affairs and international student concerns; familiarity with U.S. immigration regulations; prior experience traveling and working abroad; second language ability in Asian language; goal driven; experience working with student records systems and CRM– web/computer skills; and ability to work under pressure.
