The Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics (FCREUE) is an internationally renowned research center housed at the Haas School of Business located on the University of California, Berkeley campus. The mission of FCREUE is to educate students and real estate professionals, to support and conduct cutting-edge research on real estate, urban economics, and the California State economy, and share findings and expertise with academics, business, government, and the general public. FCREUE’s fundraising program raises $2+ million annually which provides primary support for all the Center’s activities, promotes interdisciplinary research and academic endeavors across campus, and contributes to the academic real estate program at the Haas School of Business.

This position exists to support the long time and ongoing outreach activities of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics (FCREUE) including new initiatives and programs.
Involves the planning and organizing of campus event activities, including managing logistics such as facilities, tickets, audience management activities, concessionaires, caterers, and vendors, and facilitation of communication and services with speakers and facility maintenance staff; or provides technical support of these activities.
As part of a team plans, organizes and implements small events or portions of larger events such as symposiums, conferences, program events, banquets, and VIP briefings. May manages small events or segment of larger event. Assists with event registration processes, attendee data collection and analysis. As part of a team participates in planning, organizing and staffing larger or more complex events, including being assigned responsibility for a specific event segment such as parking/transportation, catering, etc. Assists with overhaul of events administration with attention to user experience ease and establishing metrics. Special projects and other duties as needed.Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations. • Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure (Preferred) • Excellent organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus to its publics, ability to maintain confidentiality. • Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and/or management. • 1-4 years administrative support experience • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent attention to detail • Self-motivated team player • Strong skills in: MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.) Preferred Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and of InDesign) • Impeccable customer service skills to handle C-level + constituency and their event-related issues and concerns. •Strong project management skills • Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training This is a contract appointment with a duration of 1 year with a possibility of an extension
