1.The assistant graphic designer researches, conceives, designs and updates College marketing materials, in a manner that is consistent with the College's Graphic Standards and promotes the messaging of the College to support the College’s Strategic Plan initiatives, brand reputation, student recruitment, alumni engagement/fundraising and promotional campaigns. Projects may include publications, signage and banners, web page content, SEO/SEM campaigns, video, social media graphic support, e-newsletters, print and online advertisements, postcards, invitations and posters. 2.Assists with content generation, web graphics, analytics and updates for College website. 3.Working with the associate director of marketing, this position researches, captures and edits basic video for use on the College’s official social media and web platforms. 4.Collaborate with the Social Media Strategist on the development of short- and long-term Social Media campaigns and supplies supporting graphics and images. 5.Collaborates with the director of web communication to execute SEO/SEM strategies and provides graphics and images for the main College website, North Central College magazine website and Brilliant Future Campaign website. 6.Collaborates with the associate director of marketing; graphic designer, director of marketing and other members of the office of marketing and communications on the production process of all on- and off-campus printing, including identifying printers, developing print specifications, obtaining price quotes and maintaining quality control. 7.Ability to foster and sustain positive working relationships with the College’s print vendors, freelance photographers, videographers and designers. 8.Collaborates with the associate director of marketing/graphic designer, director of web communications and others on the production and editing of video assets, and ensuring that all digital content is formatted correctly for use online and for social media. 9.Work with the associate director of marketing; graphic designer to meet with the admission staff, alumni and development staff, fine arts staff, and conference services and camps staff to design visual content and provide images for print and electronic distribution. 10.In collaboration with the associate director of marketing; graphic designer, provide and discuss art direction with photographers based on specific project needs and marketing strategy. 11.Employs both Macintosh and IBM computer systems. Must be knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Suite (with an emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere), and have an understanding of the offset and digital printing world, video editing, and effective web design. 12.Utilizes daily and maintains online project management system to track project statuses, budget, print and online specifications, and deadlines. 13.Utilizes digital cameras and image scanners for photographic reproduction of print and non-print images. Maintains, organizes and archives computer files for creative projects and also maintains print and electronic photo image archives (digital asset management system). 14.Works well as part of the marketing and communications team, is creative, dependable and resourceful, and works well in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
A baccalaureate degree in graphic design, graphic communication, interactive media studies or related field is required.
Internship or job-related graphic design experience desired.
The assistant graphic designer is a member of the Office of Marketing and Communications team and contributes to the production of print and digital design to illustrate and communicate the College's brand. The assistant graphic designer will ensure all internal and external communication materials adhere to the College's Graphic Standards Manual. Under the direction of the associate director of marketing; graphic designer, this person will conceive designs and produce visual marketing materials—from concept to completion—that support the College’s Strategic Plan, institutional strategies, recruitment efforts, alumni engagement/fundraising, promotional campaigns and public relations initiatives.
