The University of Connecticut Department of Public Policy seeks to fill the position of Administrative Program Director (APD). The APD is a key person in the Department with responsibility for academic and business operations including student services, program development, recruitment, marketing and communications. The APD manages a team of staff and students in order to fulfill the mission of the Department, particularly in the delivery of its professional degree programs.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, goal-oriented leader capable of setting and fulfilling high expectations for unit achievement.
About the Department of Public Policy
The Department of Public Policy serves more than 200 graduate professional students pursuing master’s degrees in survey research (MASR), public administration (MPA), public policy (MPP) and graduate certificates in survey research, leadership and public management, nonprofit management and public finance and budgeting. In 2016, the Department was ranked #45 among U.S. public affairs programs, and #8 among U.S. programs offering a public budgeting and finance specialty. The Department has cooperative agreements or joint/dual degree programs with economics, social work, law and public health. DPP faculty are leaders in their fields with international research reputations and highly successful research programs. In addition to traditional tuition based graduate programs, the Department is heavily involved in fee-based programs, including online initiatives and non-credit training activities.
The Department of Public Policy is based at the new UConn Hartford campus. The Department works as a partner with the campus management team to assure the success of all UConn students.
Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to program to be served
Four years professional work experience including at least 2 related to this field
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage large work volume with attention to detail and quality control
Supervisory and organizational ability
MPA, MPP or related graduate degree
Experience managing professional education marketing and recruitment activities
Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards
Experience executing and evaluating digital media campaigns
