The Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy is a research center at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Center analyzes the power and impact of media, in all its forms, on public policy and politics.
The Web Editorial Assistant will be part of the Shorenstein Center's communications team and will report to the Center's Communications Director. Please note: this is a full time, benefited term appointment for two years from the date of hire.
All applicants must submit a cover letter describing their qualifications for this position. All finalists will take a proofreading test.
The Web Editorial assistant will:
Write summaries of the Center's weekly events and post to the website
Produce the Center's weekly podcast
Assist with proofreading and posting research papers and other web content as needed
Assist with the migration of content as part of a large website redesign project. Work may include manual migration, checking pages for quality control, and HTML/formatting clean up.
Assist with creating and proofreading weekly email campaigns
Make other website updates as needed

Minimum of at least three years of relevant work experience required.
Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in journalism, communications, English, or a related field.
Candidate should possess superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Excellent organizational abilities and be detail-oriented.
Must be proactive and able to complete tasks with minimal direction.
Familiarity with HTML, WordPress, Audacity (or other audio editing software), MailChimp, social media platforms, and PhotoShop are highly desirable.
