Job Summary - Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens seeks a visionary, dynamic, creative, and driven Vice President of Philanthropy to oversee all aspects of the Conservatory’s development program which supports the achievement of the annual operating budget. The VP of Philanthropy is a senior level position that works directly with the President & CEO, Leadership Team and Board of Trustees to establish long-term organizational vision and strategy.
Defines and prioritizes long-term and short-term fundraising goals with the President & CEO and Development Department.
Secures increasing levels of philanthropic support from an expanding base of donors at all levels to further the mission and plans of the Conservatory.
Works with the President and CEO and the Chief Financial Officer on the development and reporting of Department operating budget.
Acts as staff liaison for the Development Committee working in partnership with the Board Committee Chair.
Oversees the management of all aspects of donor relations including prospect research, solicitation, benefits and recognition.
Oversees the development, maintenance and strategy for donor recognition programs.
Oversees corporate, foundation and government grant planning, research, grant writing and reporting.
Oversees planned giving program.
Supervises Development staff and oversees department policies and procedures.
Works with the Senior Development Officer to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects for giving at all levels.
Works with the Development Officer for Special Events to oversee coordination of Hat Day, Bash at the Barn and Field to Table annual fundraising events.
Works with the Development Officer for Donor Stewardship on the development and implementation of the annual fund program.
Works with the Membership Manager on the development and implementation of the annual membership plan.
Works with the Development Data and Research Specialist Database to ensure the accuracy of donor information and identification of new donor prospects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum 7 years’ professional experience in fundraising at all levels
Supervisory and human resource development experience
Experience developing and implementing business plans and budgets
Experience working with fundraising volunteers/auxiliaries
Experience developing and fostering positive donor relationships
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of business and marketing principles
Understanding of importance of donor confidentiality
Understanding of and experience in government relations
Politically savvy (apolitical)
Customer focused with an outgoing and friendly demeanor
Dynamic communicator who is relationship oriented
Self-motivated and challenging spirit
Ability to achieve annual budget goals
