The Lee’s Summit, Missouri Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, visionary leader to assume the responsibilities of President. The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber and is hired by and responsible to the Chamber's Board of Directors. The President is responsible for the day-to-day management of all the Chamber's functions, carrying out policies established by the Board through an annual program of work. Other staff members have specific responsibilities as outlined in their job descriptions. All staff report directly to the President and work out of the Chamber office daily.

Within the limits of Chamber's bylaws and policies established by the Board of Directors, the President shall, with appropriate delegation, be responsible for the following:
With the Board, develop and maintain a strategic planning program that clearly communicates the Chamber's mission to the membership and the public
Continuously address the critical issues that face the Chamber
Establish administrative policies and procedures for office functions
Continuously evaluate the Chamber's organizational structure and ensure it is desired to and does function in an effective manner
Recruit, hire and train staff and administer an effective personnel program, which includes job descriptions, performance appraisals and salary administration
Develop and supervise an effective program of membership recruitment, development and services
Develop and maintain an effective communications program responsive to the membership
Develop creative benefits, programs and activities for the membership
Keep the Board, elected officials and membership informed on appropriate issues
Maintain effective internal and external public relations
Serve as the spokesperson for the Chamber, in conjunction with the Chair of the Board
Maintain an effective governmental affairs program to represent the interests of the Chamber membership to government agencies as appropriate
Prepare accurate and timely monthly and yearly financial statements with detailed information, as well as prepare an annual budget and long-range forecast of needs
Plan and coordinate Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings
Plan and organize annual planning retreat
Maintain the legal integrity of the Chamber
Identify critical issues that may impact the Chamber and its members
Oversee and monitor committees of the Chamber, maintaining quality programs
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or comparable experience
Minimum of 3 years of progressive senior administrative experience in a Chamber or related environment
Strong working knowledge of the Chamber industry to include the principles of volunteer management, program administration and strategic planning
Strong communication and public relations skills coupled with the ability to influence others
Ability to manage personnel supporting efficient performance, production and high moral
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board, employees, committees, elected officials and public
Extensive knowledge of state and local government operations
Ability to review and critically appraise program proposals and other complex issues and bring recommendations forward
Considerable working knowledge of accounting and finance as they relate to the fiscal and financial obligations of the Chamber, internal accounting controls and financial analysis of revenues and expenditures
Graduate of Institute for Organizational Management
Experience in a leadership role of a member-based organization
