ECAC Hockey, an NCAA Division I ice hockey conference comprising men’s and women’s leagues featuring 12 member institutions, is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Commissioner in the conference office, located in Albany, New York. This administrative position will provide direction, supervision and operational management for the conference’s marketing, communications, branding and social media programs.
Oversee all aspects of the league’s external communication efforts to enhance and grow the ECAC Hockey brand.
Develop and implement a comprehensive social media plan.
Manage all design and content on the ECAC Hockey website and social media platforms.
Manage the development and execution of the league’s branding and marketing plans.
Coordinate and manage the conference regular- and post-season awards processes, which includes weekly and monthly awards; league all-star teams and major awards (i.e., student-athlete, player, coach and rookie of year, etc.); and national players of month.
Solicit and procure corporate sponsors, and serve as a primary contact for fulfillment of such sponsorships.
Oversee and manage the ECAC Hockey mobile app with the league’s website partner.
Serve as conference liaison to member school Communications/Sports Information Directors.
Coordinate and manage the conference media day events.
Oversee and manage all official league statistics, records and archives.
Create and compile graphics and marketing/promotional material, as needed.
Implement corporate partner needs within the conference-controlled assets, as instructed by the Commissioner.
Oversee all aspects of media relations for the ECAC Hockey championship finals, including but not limited to credentialing, press room management, staffing roles/responsibilities, interview requests of coaches and student-athletes, and photographer/videographer policies.
Assist any television entity with their needs related to content for a broadcast.
Oversee compilation and production of the game program for the conference championships.
Assist the Commissioner with being fiscally responsible for the conference’s resources.
Assist the Commissioner with other duties as assigned.
Experience in sports marketing, communications and/or public relations.
Strong communications skills (verbal and written), and extensive experience working with social media platforms.
Knowledge and understanding of NCAA structure.
Self-starter with ability to handle multiple deadline-driven tasks.
The ECAC Hockey Assistant Commissioner will receive a 12-month appointment. Competitive salary with full benefits package.
