The Department of Alumni Affairs in the Division of Institutional Advancement at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for a full-time Director of Alumni and Student Engagement. Reporting to the Executive Director of Engagement and Stewardship, the Director of Alumni and Student Engagement is responsible for the development and implementation of activities and programs that build alumni and student engagement and deeper loyalty to Rosalind Franklin University. The Director partners closely with colleagues in the Division of Institutional Advancement, as well as a team of campus leaders, faculty, staff, students and alumni volunteers to foster lifelong connections between and amongst alumni and the university.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Full-cycle responsibilities for coordinating signature programs; including the development of new and innovative activities to meet the interests and needs of alumni and students, marketing and communications to drive participation, internal coordination with campus partners, event management, and the engagement of alumni and students throughout the experience. • Takes a lead role in developing and executing the annual and comprehensive RFU Fest and class reunion program, which includes managing alumni class reunion committees, organizing events, and collaborating on fundraising strategy. • Contributes to the development of a cross-functional campus committee, with staff participation from within the department and throughout the university, to plan RFU Fest and class reunions. Helps facilitate and provides assignments to meet set goals for the events. Involves committee in post-event evaluation. • Ensures alumni attendance is maximized for all activities and programs by using a multi-channel approach to communication including, but not limited to, electronic communications, direct mail, web sites, social media, and committee, one-on-one alumni and small group outreach efforts. • Develops strategic and metric-driven alumni and student engagement strategies in order to meet designated goals. • Curates, writes content and selects image assets to create collateral for distribution to alumni and university community in partnership with Marketing and Brand Management staff. • Manages the alumni pages of the university website in coordination with Digital Marketing staff. Builds page content that brings alumni to the site and encourages return visits. • Manages the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards program and process. • Represents Institutional Advancement on campus-wide committees, such as the Commencement Planning Committee, and contributes fully to advancing the university’s strategic initiatives. • With the Institutional Advancement team, helps in setting strategic goals for the year and creatively envisioning new and established programming to engage key donors, prospects and alumni and students at-large. • Communicates donor information to colleagues and others to ensure seamless stewardship while respecting the need for confidentiality. • Administers and manages the fiscal reporting for assigned budget. • Leverages all engagement initiatives to capture accurate and complete alumni information to ensure data health. • Manages and stewards alumni who serve in a range of volunteer roles including, but not limited to, the Alumni Association Boards, Clinical Exposure Program, admissions, specialty advisors, campus speakers, clinical educators and event hosts. • Develops a professional network with peer institutions, and represents the university through participation and leadership in professional organizations and conferences, such as the Midwest Medical Alumni Relations Retreat. • Carries out other related duties as assigned or delegated.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications or a related field with a minimum of three years of professional experience in institutional advancement, constituent relations, event planning, communications or public relations. Must achieve a background check clearance.

• Leadership to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities. • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment. • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and by phone. • Documented exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with a high degree of accuracy. • Exceptional critical thinking, research and problem-solving skills. • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks/priorities concurrently. • Ability to work/interact with diverse populations; show respect and sensitivity for diversity and inclusion. • Ability to work with all levels of stakeholders including board members, executive leadership, deans, faculty, staff, students, alumni and donors. • Must embrace a donor-centric, mission-driven philanthropic strategy. • Capacity to maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding sensitive information, records and reports. • Possess personal integrity, positive attitude, intellectual curiosity and a sense of humor. • Willingness to participate in evening and weekend activities as necessary. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google and constituent databases.
• A background in alumni relations, event planning, communications or public relations. Direct experience working on a university campus or within a health related organization or cause. Experience using Raiser’s Edge or other donor database management systems and web-based applications.
